When I was in the hospitality industry and received my first big promotion to GM, my RM told me to enter my new position with a attitude of observance. Don’t make any changes at all fo the first 30 days, despite my desire to be the “new broom” and to stamp the place with my ideas. Once I observed and understood why some things were done a certain way, I had more credibility to make changes, and a better relationship to sell them to the new staff. Best. Advice. Ever!
