Question of the Month: What benefits – Not Including Health – Does Your Company Offer?

In a competitive job market, companies have to be more creative about how they attract and retain top talent. Differentiating your business from the competition through unique benefits and perks not only builds loyalty and engagement among your current workforce, but also helps attract job seekers with the right mix of skills and expertise your business needs to stay productive.

In fact, according to MetLife’s Benefit Trends Study, 61% of employees would be more likely to accept a job with a new employer who offers health and wellbeing benefits, and 51% if the employer offered financial planning programs.

For our April question of the month, we want to know what benefits your company offers to help attract and retain top talent. Let us know by voting in our poll.

Offering their birthday as a paid holiday seems minor but the team enjoyed knowing they were being celebrated. They would often times choose to work on their birthday so we could have a celebration breakfast and take another day off.

We have a program where the employees report an unsafe situation on cards, similar to a suggestion box. We check the box each day and read the cards at the morning safety meeting. Valid issues are assigned to a member of management for correction. Once a month a safety card is drawn to receive a gift card. I think the employees appreciate the recognition, and knowing management will take them seriously, as much as the prize! It also has them actively looking at their work area for safety improvements. My plant is now approaching 5 years without a lost time injury.

Genius idea to reward safety! A healthy and safe workplace is a productive and engaged workplace.

      Thanks for the comment, Vince!

Because we are open seven days a week, everyone is paid for holidays even whether or not they work on the holiday.

I would love having my Birthday off – however my company does not offer that!

We have a decorations box in the office and have a really fun time decorating the office/workspace on employees birthdays! It fosters comradery within the staff and just makes for an enjoyable surprise on the day of the birthday.

We do that at Express Employment Professionals Headquarters, too! It’s a lot of fun!

      Thanks for the comment, Kimberly!
