The Results Are In: Types of Company Holiday Parties

The holiday season is upon us, and as we head into the final two weeks of the year, organizations across the world will gather to celebrate the many accomplishments of 2022 during their annual holiday parties.

In November, we asked our readers to let us know what type of holiday shindig their teams are planning. The results may surprise you.

With 29%, the top answer to the monthly poll was “offsite party outside of work hours,” followed by “in-office party during work hours,” with 17%. With another 17% of the votes, readers said they “are not planning to have a holiday party this year,” while 14% of respondents said their company is planning a “catered lunch at the office” for their company’s holiday party. With the fewest number of votes, 11% of respondents said they plan to have dinner with their team at a local restaurant.

Another 12% of respondents chose the “other” option. Here are a few of their responses:

  • “Offsite party outside of work hours with spouses and a carry-in lunch at the office for employees.”
  • “A week and a half off.”
  • “Restaurant with office team plus catered party outside of work hours for organization plus restaurant lunch with Board of Directors.”
  • “Via Zoom Meeting, since the department I am in has employees in different states.”
  • “In-house potluck luncheon”
  • “We celebrate by hosting a volunteering event.”
