From texting to chewing gum to bringing a friend, there are many bad behaviors that may seem obvious to most job seekers. However, if you’ve been in a hiring position for any length of time, you know people can surprise you. For our June question of the month, we want to know what bad behaviors you’ve witnessed in a job interview. Let us know by voting in our poll.
Never thought kindly chewing gum was bad. Id rather have a small piece of gum than a dry mouth and bad breath
An interview is like school cant chew gum while in class
Leaning back in the chair, arms crossed behind your head, nonchalantly looking around as you ask them questions.
Acting as if they are doing you a behavior just to show up.
I had an applicant whose perfume was so overwhelming, especially with the door closed. I thought I was going to be sick!
Also, the receptionist brought an applicant back to my office. Someone had brought in donuts, and they were sitting on top of a file cabinet. Without asking, the applicant grabbed a donut and proceeded to eat it during the interview.
Talking so much you can’t get a word in edgewise.
Showing up late.
My bad interview experience was the person doing the interview kept checking her Facebook instant messenger!
Smelling like a pack of cigarettes. Should not smoke before an interview! Not showing up to the interview at all!
