5 Things to Do This Month: November 2012

As we get closer to the end of 2012, we also approach the busy holiday season that is marked with family, food, and festivities. However, before the year truly comes to an end, take advantage of the time you have left in 2012.

Check out these five things to do in the month of November.

Book Lovers Day (Nov. 7)
With the heavy workload we’re all faced with, many people find it difficult to set time aside for a good read. This month, try incorporating a useful business or leadership related book in your department. Perhaps, you could set aside a little bit of time each week to read chapters and discuss the book as a group.

Veterans Day (November 11)
On this official U.S. holiday we take time to honor the brave men and women who have fought to preserve the American way of life. Take some time to thank the veterans in your workplace. Without their sacrifice, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the freedoms we have today.

World Kindness Day (Nov. 13)
This day is intended to build a kinder and more compassionate world. Be thinking about ways you can show your colleagues and co-workers some extra kindness. Whether that includes helping someone with an assignment, writing a few thank-you notes, bringing a batch of warm cookies, or making some hot cocoa, everyone deserves some kindness.

America Recycles Day (Nov. 15)
Your business can use this day to help raise awareness on the importance of recycling. America Recycle’s Day is all about encouraging you to recycle and use recycled materials, and educating others on how easy recycling can be. If your company doesn’t have a recycling program in place, this may be the right time to introduce one.

Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 22)
The real festivities begin with Thanksgiving – a day to eat, drink, surround yourself with friends and family, and most importantly, be thankful. Show your colleagues how thankful you are to have them. In the spirit of the holidays, organize a Thanksgiving potluck at work and allow everyone to leave work early the day before their Thanksgiving vacation. Simple acts like these will surely brighten everyone’s day.
